Which Squarespace Finish Layer features are available?
Most of Finish Layer is available but there are some partially released and some not yet released, components still to come.
Custom fonts
The ability to upload custom fonts to Squarespace websites was launched in late December.
Layers Panel
Launched in mid-2025, the Squarespace Layers Panel lets you organise and control section elements. You can reorder and hide blocks - separately for desktop and mobile - making responsive design easier without custom CSS.
Squarespace Block Transforms
Squarespace block transforms let you manipulate blocks directly in the editor - rotate, scale, adjust opacity, reposition, skew, and change anchor points. They enable precise, no-code control over layout and styling without custom CSS.
This has been a gradual release, starting with Shape and Button blocks.
Currently available for:
Text blocks
Form blocks
Button blocks
Image blocks
Shape blocks
Product blocks
Other block types, such as video blocks, may be rolled out in future.
Squarespace Animation Engine - No-code animations are here
Squarespace’s animation engine provides built-in motion effects - including fade, scale, slide, clip, and flex - across sitewide, section, and block levels.
You can apply consistent entrance animations globally or animate individual blocks like images, text, and buttons.
At block level, you can fine-tune speed and intensity, add hover interactions, and apply background effects, giving you flexible, no-code control over movement while maintaining performance.
Squarespace Stacks - Coming soon
Stacks introduce a native way to group and control multiple blocks - similar to CSS flexbox - enabling more structured, responsive layouts without custom code.
What can I do with Squarespace Stacks?
With Stacks, you can nest blocks and even other stacks to control alignment, spacing, and gaps with far greater precision. They’re particularly useful for building card-style layouts, horizontal groupings, and more complex compositions that stay intact on mobile rather than breaking apart.
Stacks also support shared styling - such as backgrounds, padding, and corner radius - applied to the entire group, making it easier to create cohesive design elements. You can animate either individual blocks within a stack or the whole container, opening up richer interactions like hover effects and layered sections.
Stacks also work with features like pinning and overlap, allowing for more advanced layouts where elements remain fixed or scroll in layered ways. Overall, Stacks significantly raise the ceiling for no-code layout control in Squarespace.
When will Squarespace Stacks be released?
Stacks are not yet in general release, but are expected soon.
